Opening my lips

God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, you’ve woken me this morning and brought me to this time of prayer. Bless me as I open my lips, accept my thanks as best I can give them, and teach me your ways. I don’t know how to pray as I should unless you guide me, Lord, by your Holy Spirit. So I ask you: forgive whatever wrongs I’ve done up to this moment, in word or action or thought, on purpose or without meaning to. Lord, if you kept a record of every wrong, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness and rescue. You alone are holy, my mighty helper and the protector of my life, and my song will always be about you. Amen.
But with You there is forgiveness, so that You may be feared.
